Bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs was asked by TMZ what he thought of country artists like Ty Herndon and Billy Gilman coming out. At first Skaggs demurred saying, "That's not what my work is about."

But then the year-old guitarist announced, "I treasure everybody" and added that he hoped they would be accepted by the country community.

"We're all sinners," he added.

Just after checking into a motel room in Savannah, Ga., a scant days ago, bluegrass and nation music star Ricky Skaggs was on the phone recalling "God-given moments" that had changed his life and career.

That night Skaggs and his Grammy Award-winning band Kentucky Thunder with mostly fresh members would fire up the crowd at the Savannah Song Festival.

It's the same band with veteran guitarist/vocalist Paul Brewster that local fans will see Thursday, May 2, at the Seventh Annual Little Roy & Lizzy Music Festival at Elijah Clark State Park, U.S. Highway , Lincolnton, Ga.

Tickets are adults, $45 daily, $95 weekend; children , $15 daily, $50 weekend, 7 and younger free.
