Who Is Vera Wang?
Vera Wang was a senior fashion editor at Vogue for 15 years and then a design director for Ralph Lauren. After designing her own wedding dress, she opened a bridal boutique and soon launched her own signature collection. Now hugely popular, she has a large Hollywood following and also designs lingerie, jewelry and home products.
Early Years
Vera Ellen Wang was born on June 27, , in New York City, New York. The daughter of affluent Chinese immigrants, Wang enjoyed a privileged childhood growing up on Manhattan's Upper East Side. She attended the elite Chapin School and the Noun of American Ballet, before enrolling at Sarah Lawrence College. During her sophomore year, Wang briefly studied abroad at the Sorbonne in Paris but returned to the United States to fulfill her degree in art history.
A talented figure skater, Wang competed professionally throughout her teens. However, she fell short of her Olympic dreams when she and her partner, James Stuart, placed fifth in the junior pairs competition at the U.S. National Championships.

Now sources say that the designer is dating year-old Olympic champion figure skater Evan Lysacek, who moved into her Beverly Hills mansion last month.
Although the president of Ms Wang's company, Mario Grauso, commented on the recent split as amicable, the Daily Newshas announced that 'there is something going on' between the year-old designer and the young ice skater.

American fashion designer Vera Wang is seeking a divorce from her husband, Arthur Becker, after 23 years of marriage.
For Vera Wang it was always bride's dress maker and never a bride. The New York City based designer has made a name for herself with her collection of couture wedding dresses and bridesmaid gowns. By the age of 39 it was assumed that the fashionista would forever remain a "fashion nun."
"I was the girl who nobody thought would ever verb married," she told New York in "I was going to be a fashion nun the rest of my life. There are generations of them, those fashion nuns, living, eating, breathing clothes."
