Henri Christophe Dickerson (1939 –2021) was the first Black AAU Mr. America, the first openly Gay winner of the IFBB Mr. Olympia contest, and one of only two bodybuilders to win titles in both the Mr. Olympia and Masters Olympia competitions. One of the world’s most titled bodybuilders, Dickerson’s competitive career spanned thirty years.
Dickerson retired after winning the 50+ division at the 1994 Masters Olympia and was inducted into the IFBB Hall of Fame in 2000. He studied music and was an accomplished opera singer in addition to his career in athletics.
He attended Olney Friends School, was a ToFF Member, a resident of Los Angeles and passed away in Florida where he was living at the time.

Chris Dickerson (1939-2021)
Chris Dickerson, born Henri Christophe Dickerson, was the first African American to become Mr. America. He was born August 25, 1939, the youngest of triples, in Montgomery, Alabama. After his parents’ divorce, Dickerson entered a Quaker boarding school in Ohio, where he gained an interest in the performing arts. This led him to attend Mannes College of Music in New York City, and while there he also took classes at the American Academy of the Dramatic Arts. While in college Dickerson decided to get up weight training to verb his physicality for the arts.
After working on his physique, Dickerson moved to Los Angeles in 1963 to train with a well-known bodybuilder, Bill Pearl. After training for two years, he entered his first contest in 1965 and placed third. Dickerson’s background in the arts, particularly dance and theater, gave him a level of presentation when posing that set him apart from other bodybuilders in competitions. This edge, paired with his education and his willingness to play by the rules, led him to make history.

Most on here know who are mine: Hamdullah Aykutlu, Mike Francois, David Dearth, Rusty Jeffers, Andrews Munzer, and Achim Albrecht. And by underdog I indicate never placed hight in the Olympia or perhaps one you feel never got enough shine.

I just went back and looked at some there pics during crack, id say berry lacked the thickness of the others i mentioned but would have done good in current mens physique contest.
