Both of us were out as bi, but it became an ongoing joke to talk about our favorite dearly departed famous men we deeply admired that we’d wed if we had the chance. But the other one was an actor we agreed to share: the fiendishly handsome, eternally cool, and powerfully raw actor, James Dean . It wasn’t until years later I initiate out that he (and Shakespeare) were both bi.

The lousy reviews might be because it's one of the only biographies to imply he had a sexual relationship with the minister and all of his gay encounters.
I don't recall the S&M stuff, but from what I've read, it was not adj. It was mentioned in Kenneth Anger's Hollywood Babylon, which as much as I Iove, is not entirely factual.
The Pier Angeli relationship is a bit hilarious. I think it may own been mostly for PR, but who knows?
I believe he was bi though. He had a relationship with Dizzy Sheridan and some other woman called Barbara (can't remember her name)
