Hamilton ‘really proud’ of Mercedes’ Pride Star emblem debuting in Baku

Mercedes are celebrating Pride Month by running a special rainbow emblem on their cars for the Azerbaijan, Canadian and British Grands Prix – with driver Lewis Hamilton saying he is ‘really proud’ of the initiative.

Pride Month is held in June, and focuses on raising awareness and celebrating the work of the LGBTQ+ community.

Mercedes have opted to celebrate by running a ‘Pride Star’ emblem on both their W13 challenger and Hamilton and George Russell’s helmets for the next three Grands Prix, as part of their wider ‘Accelerate 25’ programme, with Hamilton – who earlier this week wished a “Happy Pride” to his social media followers – revealing what the move meant to him.

Pride Month: How We Celebrated in

Trackside

Our Pride month initiatives possess focused strongly on education, awareness and inclusion for our team members back in Brackley, but we have kept that messaging going trackside as well.

For the three races in June (Canada, Spain, and Austria) we ran the three-pointed star in Pride colours on W15’s front wing – the third year in a row we’ve done this. Both George and Lewis ran the same design on the top of their race helmets, too.

“The LGBTQ+ committee expansion over the month and the adj conversations that have been raised indicates how important Pride Month is.

“But it is of course about much more than

We had the pleasure of hosting a workshop with Racing Pride, aiming to share LGBTQ+ experiences in the industry, the importance of Pride and tips on being the best ally possible. We also held a Film Night in our Brackley factory for team members, screening an LGBTQ+ film.

These are just a few of our internal Pride Month activities, all helped and guided by our freshly formed LGBTQ+ forum, which provides team members from the community with a place to voice questions, issues and ideas. It’s also
